Biography
Maryna Duncan is the founder and Managing Director of Truth Verification Consultants (Pty) Ltd. Before establishing her practice, Maryna dedicated 26 years of her career to the South African Police Service – 16 of those years working as a detective. In a field historically dominated by men, she made history as the first female detective in the Helderberg Region, where she built a distinguished record of results, integrity, and investigative excellence.
In November 2017, Maryna turned her attention to the private sector. She founded Truth Verification Consultants (Pty) Ltd with a single goal: to bring the same rigour and professionalism she applied in law enforcement to businesses and individuals who need answers. She obtained her certificate of training through the Polygraph Academy in 2017, and followed that with an Interviewing Skills certificate from Jonbeck Skills Consultants (Investigating and Training Specialists) in 2018. She is an active member of the Polygraph Examiners Association International (PEAI).
To date, Maryna has conducted nearly 1,800 polygraph examinations across a wide range of sectors and case types. Her unique combination of real-world detective experience and formal polygraph certification means clients receive not just a test – but a professional analysis grounded in years of investigative insight.
